Today I feel so much pride in taking control of the programs I watch. I recall years earlier how I would have to rush home to catch my favorite shows, Family Feud, The Amazing Race, Under Cover Boss, The Real Housewives of Atlanta, or my favorite Spanish Telenovelas on Univision. I was always in a rush to watch live programming because I can experience it with my friends and family and we could talk about it and be on the same page as we recap our favorite moments via social media. Although I had a DVR, missing a show when it aired was devastating and very stressful to me. I was never a fan of DVR as I felt I seldomly had the time to catch up with my recorded shows.
Fast-forward to today, I feel that I have time on my side by been able to manage my priorities and be organized in my work and home life providing me with extra time to catchup on my favorite programming. I enjoy the flexibility, convenience, and control of what I want to watch that apps such as Univision Now, HBO Go, Netflix, YouTube Red, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu have provided me.
Today I can pick the shows I want to binge watch if I choose to and share video clips or full episodes with my friends and family--we can talk over our Whatsapp group about what's happening in the show and add comments following hashtags on Twitter or Instagram for such shows like The Voice or Dancing with The Stars.
Taking Control of the program brings me the satisfaction I did not get with a 1000 channel cable box. Now cable free, I can watch what I want when I want on my choice of devices, (tablet, smartphone, smart television, or laptop), and always have something to watch-- never a dull moment.
