As I mentioned last week, I will be sharing some informative material to help us prepare for another exciting day of strategic discussions. This week we have a joint white paper from Verizon and Ratio. Verizon Digital Media Services (VDMS) and Ratio have built OTT (Over the Top) media solutions for some of the biggest global media brands in the marketplace.  In “Building the Next Generation of High Quality Consumer Video Experiences”, they have synthesized all of the components and workflows required to deliver a high quality video experience.  This in-depth primer will guide you in making the smartest decisions for deploying your video distribution strategy in the fast growing OTT universe that is transforming the media world.

I have to admit I am a little biased about the Verizon-Ratio joint solution. I like it. In my consulting work, I am often asked to help content companies launch an OTT service. For some of them, this means “Get me on Roku, Android, iOS, Hulu, Samsung, Sony, LG, Sharp, Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast, Yahoo, Apple TV, Sling TV…” and the list goes on and on. Understandably, getting integrated on a vast array of OTT devices and services is the best way to attract a wide audience. But most of us know it is not that easy. Device integration, app creation, content discovery, content transformation— these are all significant challenges if not addressed with a good strategy and a robust OTT integration and management platform. All those point integrations to various devices quickly add up to a very costly project and then also a huge ongoing management headache. What if there was a way to solve that problem?
